I Love Pastels! From the first day I picked up a pastel in 1996, I was hooked. The way the pastel becomes your brush and the paper your pallet is immediate and an exciting way to paint. The subtle colour effects you can gain by glazing one colour over another gives a great depth to the artwork. I always had a love for drawing and all things art. Beginning in acrylics and pencil work I was fascinated with detail and used the classic one hair brush to find the exactness I was hoping for. Then when I went to my first pastel workshop there was no way I could work the same way with this chubby blunt stick of dust. How did they get that amazing detail? How do hey keep it so clean when mine goes muddy? My curiosity lead me to the Pastel Society of Australia Inc where I went to workshops and demonstrations every month for many years. Learning, watching, playing with pastels. Sharing coffee, cake, laughs our problems and successes. In 2005 I became serious about making pastels my main medium. To 'master' one rather than be a 'jack of all trades'. By 2011 I attained my Master Pastellist Status with the Pastel Society of Australia and the leap to professional artist as a full time job. Now I have the blessings of travelling and sharing my passion for pastels with artists all over the world. The joy of watching those lightbulb moments on my students faces has lead to this website of courses. With something to suit absolute beginners to advances pastel artists - There is something for everyone. But be warned - if you have never tried them before - like me - you might just get hooked!
